I'm tryiing to be good here so I can't really say how I feel about the representatives in Washington.

If they had any self repect they would take what loot they have and go home and just seclude themseleves and bask in the glory of helping to take this country apart !

All politicians that are taking the position that AIG employees must give the bonus money back and that same politician took money from AIG, that politician should do the right thing and commit suicide. Let their campaign keep the cash. I want a lasting solution and the problem is not AIG on this issue it’s the idiots in Washington that approved the deal to begin with.

Now the DEMs are trying to blame it on the treasury department, when in fact it was their own stupidity that has caused this bonus mix-up.
The AGI bonus deal was made before the congress stepped into the picture.
They say that AIG shouldn't have paid them.
It is a binding contract.
Sure they could have refused to pay them and would have been sued by each and every one of them for breach of contract and would have won.

Because the DEMs were in such a hurry to vote on the stim package (as per their MASTER told them to) they didn't even take the time to read what was in it.

They can't blame the REPs on this one as they wouldn't even let them have a say in it (NP "WE WON THE ELECTION, WE MAKE THE RULES").
If they had took the time to read it then they might have seen that there was a clause that protected said bonuses, put in by a DEM I might add!

Now they say they must give the money back.
Under contractual law, there isn't a court in the country where that would hold up.
If they don't want to give it back they can't make them!

Now they say they will tax them at a rate of 98% to get the money back.
I think this would be considered unconstitutional and subject to a court challenge.

The whole thing boils down to the fact that the DEMs screwed up big time.
The country is in an uproar over this wasted money, as they should be and the DEMs are just trying to find a way to cover their a&&*& on this one.

For a bunch of lawyers they sure are dumb!

Not to mention I heard that AIG's leader, whoever that is, was put into that position by the government itself.

All that feigned indignation was a smoke screen  cause they knew all along it was put in the bailout  by Geitner and his gang to allow the bonuses. They are a fraud and should be run out of town!

Our problem aint AIG its CONGRESS !

Sorry, should have read the subject line more closely.

Yes they should have to give it back.
It is a clear case of conflict of insterest.

As for the AIG executives I stand by my original reply.

First IMHO AIG Bonus's are theirs to due as they wish its a Standing Contract within that Company
Here MY PROBLEM
The StimuLESS that was signed UNREAD had that Little Change made right under the wire
then (now)  all Heck broke loss as too NO WAY we won't stand for Bail-out Money to go to these Guys that
Had Legal Contracts that Said their company (AIG ) owed them Bonus's
Here Is what I call THE Conspiracy they slipped it in under the wire for this reason
SO they could Put a NEW against the ConstitutionIllegal Law to TAX this money to Put back into the Gov.
This is So Wrong its against what thousands have died for but I say this is just the Beginning (their Plan) of these INSTANT Illegal Laws that,
 Do anything they Want
Give us Guns then Decide in one day, One Meeting, we need a 90% Tax ! ! ! !
 unless they register them
I can go on and on but I'm running out of TUMS

Its all Wrong and  The Prez IMHO is letting it go

You can't let government override a private contract in my opinion.....once you do that for any reason, no contract is worth a toot anywhere, government is getting way too much power.

Second thing is,  Congress passed an amendment protecting those bonuses...google it...Dodd is the guy...and they ALL knew it and so did Obama...
maybe they should start reading what they passed into law...?
Sounds like a smoke screen to me, everyone worrying about 165 million...while we are sending billions of our tax dollars to other countries banks and a host of other places (see pig oder) .

Government decides to tax all of it, you have an even bigger problem...your country is then GONE.

If you want to get mad, get mad at Congress for setting up AIG,  squandering your tax money by the trillions, and lying to you about what's happened.
It's knee jerk legislation put in place because a few years earlier they made knee jerk legislation on something that caused that...it goes on and on.
They also hope to God you don't read their legislation......because every single thing you got is because of what they have done earlier at some point.

Obama gave a great speach and told Congress that we were watching, and to not flitter away tax payer money.....Obama failed...Congress failed...and now the whole world can watch our leaders running around trying to blame everyone but themselves.  It's a great show...the more than comes out the worse they all look.

Nixon did the right thing , "the buck stopes here " . He was incharge and he stepped down .
Maybe it would be better to act like Nixon and not like FDR ?

The more I read and listen to the news on this subject the more I think the whole thing stinks. I really think laws have been broken and the rich are lining their pockets with tax payer money. I would like to fire all of congress and start all over with people that would work for us. Dale
