Tailgate alcohol stove solution

This might give folks some ideas. This is a combination of an old Sterno stove and a Trangia burner. This setup is what I keep in the back of my pickup, as I like a cup of hot soup and coffee for lunch.

I really believe that Alcohol stoves are good for more than backpacking. I haven't found a temperature cold enough or hot enough where the alky stove didn't work and there's nothing to break.

Nice looking setup.  I like to find things like this.  Where did you get the Trangia burner?

Google for "trangia spirit burner". They're available at different places.

Have fun!

There is a newer design alcohol stove for sale on the web.  Its called the Thermolite and uses an open jet pepsi can burner with a snug fitting wind screen/potstand.  I built a knockoff as close as I could tell and boy does it cook. It simmers well too.  For about four bucks you can build one too or buy one for $40.

You got to check out www.minibulldesign.com he makes great pop can stoves and shows you how to make your own.  Use "Heet", it's the only way to go for an alcohol stove.
The Heinaken and Foster beer cans make great pots to cook in.

My cabin crusier had a combination electric/alcohol cook stove. When in port and pluged into shore power you had two electric burners. The cups that held the alcohol were underneath, and when you lit the alcohol burner the flame came up through the center of the electric burner. Worked well with either system.
