50 BMG PRESSES

Does anyone have any experience reloading the 50 BMG? If so whioch press kit would be best, the Hornady or the RCBS Ammomaster 2?
I don't know if there is much difference, the price is the same.  I have the RCBS on backorder.

50cal = many 223
50cal = a bunch 308
50 cal = a bunch more 45-70 with cast bulletts

i don't bother to load my 50 bmg  or even shoot it that much

but have thought about  it
have  you seen any cast bullet data
or even a chamber  adapter  to shoot the 500SnW

how about a sabot to reduce recoil and projectile cost
imagine how fast you could push a 30 cal  
 i hear  the muzzle loader sabot are too soft  and the muzzle brake makes then danderous
but a 25o grain 45  hp might be neet to vapoize  things with

How can the price difference be so drastic? If you buy the RCBS or Hornady dies alone they are over 300 dollars! How can Lee sell the whole setup for under 200? Do you use this press Tim?  BTW I didn't know you hung out over here too.

I don't load for the BMG, but I've had that press for several years, it's built like a tank compared to their other single stage presses, a LOT of press for the money, IMO.  ;)

I don't "hang out" here, but I do read a lot of the threads and even post a little.  :)

I have an Armalite AR 50 that I enjoy shooting very much just trying to get into reloading, and I wanted to get a single stage press that would accomodate the BMG.  I also have a 500 S&W handi rifle that I also enjoy loading and shooting.  My rifle recoils so little that anyone can shoot it, I can sit at the bench or in the prone and shoot it all day long.

I meant my BMG recoils so little you could shoot it all day, not the 500 S&W. That one I can shoot about 7-8 times with full house 500 grain loads and I'm DONE.

I have a friend who loads 50 BMG on a Lee classic cast And he loves it. He tried mine before getting one and that sold him I do not have the 50 cal adapter so he loaded some .338 lapuas on mine and he says it works better than his RCBS rock chucker.

I'm not anti lee but his press don't hold a candle to the rcbs press. You can convert the Ammomaster to reload other calibers and progressive to boot. Rcbs also has customer service second to none.

Everyone I hear say that has never really looked at the classic cast series of Lee presses, They are made from the same matierials with a larger ram and stronger links and a much better primer catcher and built in priming tool and a larger opening to handle 300 RUM to .50 BMG without add ons. 8) 

Customer sevice from Lee is pretty good also but you won't break this press unless you are doing something you shouldn't be doing in the first place.

Thanks guys for the input, I cancelled my backorder for the RCBS and I'm gonna give the Lee a try, I figure the Lee press and dies (50 KIT) cost less than the RCBS or Hornady presses alone, so at least I will have what everyone says is a good press.  I wonder how good the Lee dies are?  The Lee kit was on sale for 172.00 regular 192.00.  I can get a whole setup including trimmer, scale, factory crimp die, and some powder and bullets and primers for the same price as what the RCBS or Hornady kits with only dies and a press would cost!!! That is unbelievable!
