Did I Loose Everybody
« on: March 08, 2009, 05:05:23 AM »
Where Is everybody?Ok I guess from what I read alot of people did not do so well this year. But there's alot more hunting to do!So lets get out of those dark winter blues and start putting up some posts, about the upcoming stuff.

I personaly cant wait for the spring squirrel I think I like it the most,it stands really close to coyote.I did really enjoy pig hunting even though I was in that group that didn't get one???!!!!It was my first year coming from MI.I can't wait till next season or the next chance I get to go.
I'll look forward to hearing from everybody.

Turkey season opens pretty soon.....and the fish are biting good right now.

No pig for me either this year....Oh well, it's better to have hunted and lost than to not have hunted at all!

I am in the no pig gang but hope to try one more time. I only got one buck this year and it wasn't anything special. I got one coyote so far also. As soon as Old English gets done with my boat trailer I will start fishing. Got a new old motorcycle to get road ready, did run the sidecar rig down the road and back today.

I am not in the no pig gang but.... I am certainly not done with them. Planning to get a hunt together soon before the undergrowth makes it too difficult. OYD is assured a place and Maximus may get to join us. I am eager to try out a new 45-70 on the porkers.
I guess I'll try for some turkey but shooting mammals with a rifle is where my heart is at.

Hey, thats good news. Like I said Old English, I'm ready anytime.I'm at a lost right now? can I not even hunt coy's. From what I understand coy hunting is not an actual season.Even though It's open all year there has to be a season right???So I'll have to wait till turkey,or squirrel, to get in the woods.RIGHT looking for answer

You can hunt coyoyes year round, no problem. Unfortunately if you want to use public land, WMA's then there is a problem. You can only hunt a WMA when something that has a season, is in season. Next hunting on WMA's will be turkey, then Spring squirrel I think. You can hunt coyotes on WMA during turkey season but....you must use a weapon specified for turkeys, IE shotgun or bow.
On private land you can hunt coyote whenever you like, no problem at all.

I've been a die-hard Vandy fan for over 40 years. I root for EVERYBODY over the vols.
My two favorite teams in any sport are Vandy and whoever plays UT next.

Q: Know what a UT Football Player says to a Vandy Football Player after graduation?

A: Would you like fries with that?

alan

p.s. added: An exception to this is UT Womens Basketball. I have the greatest respect for what she (Pat Summit) has done with that program. Her success rate on the court is, in my mind, second to the fact that she graduates 100% of her players. When old whats-his-name was coach of the UT Football program, the graduation rate was less than 18%. The second lowest in the country.

I was a Vandy (a pronounced ah) fan when I lived in middle Tennessee.  Vandy's a great school, but the athletic department, with the exception of the Lady dores, needs some help.

Lots of rich kids going to vahndy.......

The Tennessee Florida game is huge here in E. Tennessee....much like the Tennessee Alabama game was back in the 70's and 80's.

Either way, Tennessee junk is what you have been......I'd stay that way if it were me.....Florida junk just doesn't have the same ring to it......IMO

By the way, how's things going for you down there?  Learned to speak yankee yet?

Things going good. Am making a living buying and selling junk, making and selling knives. In the midst of turning tn_junk into an LLC company.
Garden will be in the ground in a couple of days. Chicken coop almost finished and ready for some pullets. The camper that I'm living in is cozy, small and comfortable. I really like the simple life.
As for the speaking yankee part- I live in the Northwest Florida Panhandle, I can pretty much almost throw a rock from my yard into Alabama. Very few of the Snow Bird types in these swamps. Between the gators, fire ants, cottonmouths, skeeters and chiggers, the Yankees don't much like it here.

You takin' care of yourself?

I've been riding the bike around a little lately. Rode up to Gatlinburg and Clingmans Dome a few days ago. I'm just waiting for the weather to warm up a little so I can go fishing.

The urge to hunt is being overtaken by the urge to fish.  Spring bass fishing on KY Lake is just around the corner.  Too weak to fight it.  The bass will be moving on the beds in the next month.

The hunting urge will be back in early august with the thoughts of squirrels, dove, geese, ducks, and deer oh my.

Any of you guys on the plateau fish/hunt for musky?
