Anyone reload for the 40S&W?
« on: March 14, 2009, 08:12:55 AM »
Just looking for favorite powders, bullets (165gr-180gr), etc. I just bought a new semi-auto and needing some input. I'll be paper shooting, camping in bear/lion country, using as CCW on occasion, and using for home defense. I would appreciate any info you might have to share.

I use Titegroup, because it works for 9mm, 40S&W, and 45 auto.  I use downloaded info from the manufacturer's website.  It seems to be rather clean burning and as accurate as other powders that I've tried.

I loaded some the other day, I used Bluedot under some 180gr Hornady XTPs.  I am at work and don't have all the info with me.

I use Bullseye in my range ammo in all the pistol/revolver range loads. Go to the Alliant web site for load information. I load the .40 almost a full grain below max under a 175gr LSWC.

I use Unique and 165gr Hornady XTP and Berry's 165gr HBRN. They both shoot to same POI. I load 6gr for my Witness compact and 6.5gr for a FNP40.
GOOD LUCK and GOOD SHOOTING!!!

I like to use 5.0 grains of Winchester 231 with a 180 grain lead bullet for USPSA matches.
