45 Colt, Lee crimp die on a 454 ?

Anyone think of a reason I can't use a my Lee, 45C crimp die for my 454 after seating with my RCBS dies.  I realize I'll have to unscrew some for the added lenght of the 454, other than that , it should work ??  Thanks and regards.......irold

Should work like a champ , just like using the 38 spl one on a 357 mag .  ;)

Your speaking of the LEE Factory crimp die?
Now, I don't use them, but its my understanding that they work off contact with the shell holder. So it might not work as you think...

I do know that a friend was loading up some LE 45/70 brass and could not crimp because of the shorter length brass of the cases!!!

From looking at the Lee web site , they list the same part number for both the 45LC as well as the 454 Casull # 90865 .

The Lee Factory Crimp die doesn't work off the shell holder, at least not for straight wall cases.  Just screw the die in like you would for a 45 Colt until it touches the mouth of the case, lock in place and adjust crimp spindle as needed.
