No rain
« on: May 22, 2009, 04:08:22 PM »
Two days ago I went to my lease near Freer to work on a blind and was truly shocked at the near desert-like conditions. My campsite, which by now should be almost knee-high,is devoid of a single blade of grass. It's a scary situation for the up-coming season.  Kix

Hey Kix. We actually had some some good rain here in Austin and the surrounding areas this past week. Actually, it seems wetter than normal lately. Freer is further south but I heard that area was exempt from the rain we received, unfortunately. The fawns could use the rain right now. :-[

Mohawk:  Well,we had about a third of inch today in Corpus Christi but what happened out west I don't know. My lease isn't that large as leases go but I am still a dedicated horn-hunter;some years I shoot a buck, others I don't. Last year my best deer was only video-taped;thinking something else would show up in Jan. But no matter. To me the best part is carrying my favorite rifle, coming back to camp with a good fire going and having some friends present. As much as I am salt-water fisherman my mind is still on those cold nights! I wish you luck this season.  Kix

We are getting some rain here in San Antonio.  It is spotty but still good rain.  I have gotten about 1.5 inches since friday the 22nd.  I here we have another good chance Tuesday evening the 26th.  My fields and my deer look good. Excited to see what this year might bring!   Jeff

Over the last week or so it rained all day here in Austin. Been a long, long time since we've had that. My son's last baseball game was actually "rained out" Saturday. Rained all day two days last week plus Saturday afternoon.....looking good so far!!!
