Reloading 7.5x55 Swiss
« on: May 14, 2009, 02:34:58 PM »
I just bought a K31 and want to start reloading for it.

Do they even make 7.5 jacketed bullets?  I've been looking but can't find them anywhere.  They must exist because both Wolf and Privi sell 7.5x55 ammo.  I'll use .308 if I can't find any, but would prefer the right size.  Any help would be appreciated.

I just miked a Privi round and the bullet is .305.  I'm thinkin that maybe .308 is going to work just fine.

Check you mike, the 7.5x55 Swiss uses a .308 bullet (actually the GP11 round uses a 174gr .3086" dia bullet).  Hornady 7th ed has four pages of load data spanning 130 gr to 180 gr bullets.

Maybe I squeezed a little too hard!  My Hornady 3rd edition says the 174 gr. load used a .307 bullet.

I tried a 30 cal muzzel gauge on it when I bought it and it stopped below zero.  I also miked a 30 cal gameking and got .308 on the nose.  Does anybody else have some factory ammo for a second opinion?
