Lee, called and checked on ice condions last night.Everything is still frozen tight --2 feet of ice , are the norm on the lakes.A week of real warm weather should start the ponds ,loosening up.But the big lakes have a long ways to go.

Tom
I don't believe it will effect you going to northern MN to trap. But I got word from a friend that worked the flood of 97 on the Red River in North Dakota. He said that people up north were expecting this years flooding in that region to be equal to or worse than 97. My friend has volunteered to return to work this years expected Red River flooding. Don't look good for them folks up that way. If I could do it I'd head over there myself as they may need the help.

Mark, it didn't affect the areas I trap ,in 97-so I don't expect any real problems. I am a ways from the red river and stick to mainly lakes and ponds.
Minnesota just sent 200 National Gaurdsman to North Dakota, to help with the sand bagging. The Guardsmen and women from N.D.,are for the most part--serving in Iraq at this time.So some of our people, are helping our neighbors.
As a side line--it was 40 years ago, that the St.Croix was running wild. I spent 3 weeks of my senior year ,working on the dikes in Stillwater and St. Croix Beach.
Sure helped cut down on the school time before graduation.
