I can testify to what a good cleaning will do. While I don't know much about your rifle, I once had an old Mossberg 22 target rifle that would misbehave anytime it got the least bit dirty inside. I was shooting lead ammo and you could be assured that after shooting between 75-100 rounds, the gun would start jamming. Some of it was the cheap ammo, but the gun just would not perform when the action got the least bit dirty. Going to a higher velocity, cleaner burning ammo may help some. Also, there's some 22 rifles that get stubborn after what appears to be a limited number of rounds, and require frequent cleaning. You may also find something that is in need of replacement while performing a thorough cleaning and oiling of the action.
