I'm looking at buying an inline muzzle loader in the near future and am wondering what guns everyone has that they like, and if there are any I should stay away from.

Out of the muzzle loaders that I have looked at, the ones I like the look and feel of the most are the T/C Omega, the T/C Triumph, the Remington Genesis, and the Traditions Pursuit II. What are some of the good and bad things about these particular models? I also like The T/C Encore but I'm a little deterred by the price. Is it worth the extra money?

T/C Triumph .50 CAL .without a blink of an eye ..i have shot it on the range and it is a tack driver ..it is not barrel heavy like my T/C ENCORE ..go to a hunting store and handle some of the muzzleloaders .

T/C Triumph is a no brainer right now. The most reliable with BH209 and they are tack drivers. Knight has a new model coming out that might be worth buying as well.

what makes the triumph a no brainer in your opinion? i too am looking to by a muzzleloader. i am trying to choose between the prohunter and the endeavor. i know they are a bit spendy but i am going to tade my 30 06 that i am not all that fond of so that should help. i'm trying to decide if the extra 50$ or so is worth it to have the hand removable breech. i'm looking at the prohunters and endeavor as i would like the flexability to add diff barrells to it. can the triumph do this as well ?? is it as easy to load and clean ?? any help would be appreciated as i am new to muzzleloading. in fact this would be my first. thanks

If your looking for just a Muzzleloader the Triumph would be your best choice. If your looking to switch barrels the Endeavor would be your best choice. The Endeavor offers the same speed breech as the Triumph. They are both very easy to use. Both are very accurate, but the Triumph has a slight edge in it's design as far as accuracy.

for changing barrels the CVA Apex is a no brainer. Adjustable trigger, stock made for a scope. No silly rubber stuff in the stock.

If you hunt where you cannot use scopes you may want to consider something besides a triumph.I shoot an Omega and its a real good shooter.

My suggestion is, If you are a first time buyer of an inline. I would look towards a used Knight. Whether it be an MK-85 or one of the newer models such as the Elite. It seem while these guns are High dollar when new, they demand only 1/3rd of the original price used. If you are willing to look a while you can find a real good deal on a used one. They sell 209 conversions for them. then you can use the new Blackhorn 209 powder. While the Encore or the pro hunters are fine Rifles, better be aware of the blowback into the Frame, up till now Black powder, and the subs Pyrodex, and 777 will cause your frame to fail unless taken apart and cleaned ,  I am not aware if the Blackhorn 209 powder will have the same effect. I would suggest if you want to go this route I would put an add into the Want To Buy section Lou

It's mostly a matter of personal preference and what feels the best to you. If you have a current production muzzleloader that won't shoot, you either haven't found the right load or you got a one in a million that was a lousy shooter. A lot of the lousier designs and products have been washed out since the first in-lines came out. I still would caution against a first-year model as it seems something crops up a lot of times when they get extensive field use(Knight Revolution).
I dislike the CVA and Encore stocks,but there have been a lot of them sold and a lot of dead animals to their credit. I do like the feel and handling of the Traditions Pusuit so I bought one recently that I have not shot yet. I also like the Omegas that I have shot. The thumbhole stock designs of some of these rifles seem to help steady the heavier barrel of MZ's. To each his own, I would advise handling as many as possible before deciding.

I settled for a full camo Traditions Pursuit LT. I bought it yesterday. I was able to get it for $310 and I walked out the door with the gun, primers, powder, bullets, and speed loaders for just under $385. The bullets I got are the 300 gr. TC XTP sabots. I decided to go with these because reviews on cabelas.com said they are very accurate and have devastating performance on game. I put 100 grains of pyrodex pellets behind these bullets and at 60 yards with iron sights i had a one inch group that was about 1-1/2 inches from the bullseye. Not bad for the first shots right out of the box! I was surprised with the recoil though, it rocked me like my slug gun does! It's not that big a deal but I had shot a round of sporting clays earlier in the day so my shoulder is a little sore :D. My choices had come down to this and the Omega but I went with the Pursuit because it fits be better, and I like the break action over the pivoting action. It was a little more expensive than the Omega but I still think I got a good deal and I'd rather spend a little more money and get something I really like than save a little and get something I kinda like. I super excited and now I'm in deer mode! Turkey season is right around the corner though so I gotta get ready for that fast haha!

hope urs is better than the one i had [traditions Pursuit LT] the ALLOY FRAME on mine was hard to close with the primer 209 in place .also after 50 odd shots the fire pin would hit the primer off center and sometimes would not go off [the deer loved it] i sold it and bought a PRO TRADITION it had a steel frame it was well built [barrel heavy] and the trigger pull was just HORRIBLE ..so much for tradition i now shoot a T/C ENCORE ,,,but the TRIUMPH is just as good ..

Don't be sorry, any input is good input.  I didn't have any problems with closing it with the primer in place. When i was shopping around I looked at the Triumph and the Encore. I didn't like the action on the Triumph. It was break and pivot and I just didn't find that too appealing, and the gun didn't fit me as well as some others. I liked the Encore just as equally as the Pursuit so I went with the least expensive because I know people that own the Encore and people that have the Pursuit and they both have good things to say about them. Plus I don't plan on getting extra barrels for the Encore so I didn't think it was necessary to spend an extra couple hundred dollars on a gun that I liked just as much as one that was less expensive. Thanks for your input and I'll be sure to watch out for the things you mentioned!
