I had about 700-750 round down the barrel before letting it go. I tried loading the first round both ways, one allowing the tension spring to do all the work and secondly with me trying to guide the round in. I was shooting factory ammo (230gr FMJ either remmington UMC, blazer brass, Winchester target rounds, and some FNH). I also shot one box of JHP just to see if that made a difference. The feeding problem was across the board, I tried a mags by colt and springfield with no resolve. To try and explain it further, it was like the round wasn't being released by the mag and the bullet was hitting the ramp and sticking instead of feeding into the chamber.
Like I said earlier, it was a great shooter after the barrel warmed up a bit. overall, I am still satisfied with my decision to trade it in because when I bought it was on sale, and the folks at gander mountain gave me damn near full price for what I paid.
On a sidenote, I took the para out yesterday and put 150 rds through...I am in love with it! I will still probably put another 300-400 rounds through before I feel comfortable using it as a carry weapon. I thought with the shorter barrel(3.5") I would have a hard time reaquiring the target for a rapid second shot, but the weight of the pistol itself is almost that of a full size 1911 which really helped the recoil.
