 With open sites, from a good rest and a good shot with good eyes, I would say 2-3". Throw on a scope and that same shooter, maybe half that.

This is assuming the ammo is what the gun shoots well and the shooter is experienced in accurate shooting of a handi.

when I had mine I got around 11/2" to 2" at 100yrds.I know for some that may not be good, but for me it made deer and any other critter dead.
an unloaded wepon is equal to the same mass and volume as a rock.

Great with jacketed or cast if you get a 2007 or later Marlin made barrel, don't count on it shooting jacketed well if it was made before that tho, this was shot with factory ammo and a WGRS peep sight at 100yds.

Here is a 50 yard group shot with Winchester 240 grain factory ammo out of my 2007 44 Mag. It should shoot in the 2" range at 100 yards.

Good Luck and Good shooting.

Mine's a 2007 accessory barrel on an SB2 frame. Current production Handis come on SB1 frames with a scope rail only, no sights. You can also send in an '87 or later SB1 frame for an accessory barrel when they get the barrels in stock, I wouldn't yet until you can confirm they have them available tho.

I have never seen a leveraction rifle in 30-30 that shot as well as my old 158 H&R Topper in 30-30 would.  I will say that I believe generally a single shot rifle will outshoot Winchester and Marlin leveractions.

I have one of the older (1996) 44 mags.
It is scoped with a 4x Bushnell and will shoot about 4" group at 100 yds.

I put one in layaway on Friday. It said SB 2 also. How long ago did you get yours? I wish I could have got one without sights & with a rail. They said I couldn't, I'll have to take the sights off and buy a rail. Does that mean I can get high pressure barrels for it? You been to the Sittin Bull lately?

Tim, Did they just start making 44s on SB1 frames without sights lately? Mine says SB 2 Serial# HX and has sights I can't see anymore. Can I get accessory barrels for this with * (Asterisk) ? Thanks!

Just about ALL centerfire rifle barrels are marked SB2, what the barrel is marked is irrelevant to what frame it's on,  what frame they put them on just depends when it gets made into a rifle, barrels are made in runs of 100-500 by Marlin in Connecticut, then rifles are built in Ilion NY. SB1 357 and 44mags were first available in 2008, were in the 2008 catalog in late 2007, they were initially marketed for the Indiana pistol chambered rifle deer season without sights, they still come that way, the SB2 357 and 44mags are no longer made, haven't been since late 2007/early 2008. Since one member got a 45-70 accessory barrel recently with no sights, they may be changing all of the barrels that used to come with sights to just scope rails, dunno, that remains to be seen.

But if you want a 44mag accessory barrel, be sure to order it the way you want it, but for right now they're out of stock or have been for quite some time. One dead give away to those on SB1 frames is the marking on the right side of the frame where no markings are usually made except for special edition models, a shortened version similar in effect as stated on the website and in the catalog. They should also have the new style synthetic stock.

X= 2007, so I suspect that's an SB2 framed rifle.

*Note: The frame of the 44 Mag. (SB1-S44) and the 357 Mag. (SB1-S35) cannot be fit with any other centerfire rifle barrel. They are capable of being fit with accessory shotgun barrels, but their rifle capability is limited to the specific 44 or 357 Mag. barrel that it is shipped on the gun.

Kind of interesting that they chose to use the SB1 instead of the SB2.  Still the SB1 is a very flexible starting point considering all the different shotgun variants and now the 357 and 44 magnum.

Boy I don't know what to think. Guess (HOPE!) I got most of what I wanted or was allowed to get at this point in time. I wanted a SB2 I guess so I could get other rifle barrels. Monte Carlo stock, which I was told I couldn't get on new gun. No sights with hammer extension & scope rail cause I can't focus on the sights anymore, told I couldn't get. So when I send in for other barrels I can pay for the things separately that I wanted in the first place. Professor Tim, wish they would have put 44s on SB2 frame in that picture. Sure glad I fought the salesman for that 10% off they had marked but he didn't think I should get. Next month they probably will make the exact gun I wanted for under $200. Almost wish I would have just stuck with my 44 pistols. Naw, I know I'll fall in love with the little Sweetie. Been kinda an uphill courtship so far. Glad Tim has a Masters Degree in Handinomics 101! Sorry about the rant and Big Thanks for your Help.

You can get a scope rail, in fact take your pick, there are about a half dozen options listed in the FAQs, just scroll down the page until you see the pics, lots of choices from about $6 to $40, only the H&R factory rail includes a hammer extension, but Uncle Mike makes it for them, so anyone can order it for you separately. ALL H&R RIFLE barrels are drilled and tapped for scope rails, so you're not stuck with just sights. ALL Stocks fit all frames except for a couple shotgun forends, so you can mix and match stocks as well, so nothing is lost.  ;)
