A couple of Swedes

The one on bottom is a 1900 Gustafs one of 1300 produced and rebarreled to 23.6" and bolt handle turned down.The top is my newly acquired AG42B...Both are all matching #'s and 6.5x55.

Arg!!!!!!! I'm jealous Aardvark. ;)

I love Swedes in any shape, color, or form. Very nice find. The stock on the AG42B looks like it has some great potential, even though it looks great just as it is.

I find the Swede rifles most interesting. Especially the AG42B, very, very nice. I bet it cost big bucks.

I got it for $600 which is a steal. I took it to the range yesterday and ---OMG--what a shooter!

Nice rifles.  I have a 1896 Gustav which I like very much. It shoots very good .
It is still original military style.  What do the numbers on the brass disc stand for?
There is hardly any recoil to shooting it at all.

Bought a swed mauser 1909 a few months ago. I took it to the range and was shooting 4 inch groups at 100 yards the first time I shot it. It is the most accurate military rifle I ever fired.

Aardvark:  nice AG42B.  The stocks on both mine look at bit like yours.  They are totally awesome rifles.  If you have removed the stock from yours did you find the action tapped - you would have seen three screw holes tapped just underneath the stock, on the left side just to the rear of the chamber area.  On one of mine I have three holes drilled and tapped - all the same size and all in a straight line.  On the other I have three holes drilled and tapped but the holes are of two different sizes and not in line - sort of like on of those side mounts for a AK. 

Most everyone I have spoken with on these forums have said the 'B' designation did not mean 'sniper' or 'scoped' as with the M41B sniper rifle, yet nobody can clarify why these actions were drilled and tapped. 

I think I am going to look for another stock and then remove just enough wood to solidly mount a scope base - I think I will try and modify a older Weaver side mount for a lever action and see how it goes.  Just a thought.  Mikey.

There is something I read about the wood being removed in order to access the scope mount.Maybe that is true.
The B designation just means that the gun was rearsenaled and had all their new modifications done like stainless gas tube and slide cover knobs, and rubber case bumper, rear sight,etc...
