cz 52 for truck gun

I have no experience with the the cz's, but it looks like it might make a good, inexpensive truck/defense pistol. Ammo availability? Reliability? Performance? What to look for when buying? Any first hand feedback would be appreciated.

Excellent choice.  Ammo is available all over the place but especially from Ron Reed - one of our moderators and he has a banner at the top - makes a bunch of different 7.62x25mm loads for the CZ52.  The CZs are solid reliable military sidearms.  Performance with the proper ammo is incredible.

Many of the folk on this site can give you a 'heads up' when it comes to what to look for, but if the pistol is in good shape I would jump on it.  HTH.  Mikey.

Mine looked new or refurbished when I got it several years ago.  Good design, decent workmanship for a foreign military piece.   Never jammed shooting factory stuff (7.62 X 25) or a variety of reloads, but I really haven't shot it much, maybe 2-300 rounds.  It lives somewhere in my vehicle.  Tiny sights so I can't shoot it well.  Hits hard, probably similar to the new .327 Federal round. 

$175. +- fifty bucks.

Very nice for the money.

fun gun forget reloading the brass will land in another zip code.(this is after new stronger springs) over penetration is a problem for self defence use.

The CZ52 is built like a tank.  Uses a roller block locking mechanism like H&K rifles.  Mine is really accurate.  I replaced the firing pin with an aftermarket which greatly improved the trigger pull (not sure what's up with that).  Initially had a few misfires with old milsurp ammo but it's 100% with new ammo (S&B) I tested.  There's a lot of newer milsurp available too.

Recently bought some Wolf Gold (boxer primed reloadable brass) with 85gr JHP bullets.  At +1700 fps this should be awesome stuff, but I haven't test fired any yet.  Haven't tried Reeds loads either.

polish the firing pin and the firing pin plunger and its bore and the trigger gets a lot better *** If your after market firing pin required you to remove the plunger you dont have a decocker anymore and you have removed the drop safety if you hit the hammer it will fire.A note on the weak,brittle, fragile fireing pin is that very few have actually broke one and most of that noise is brought to you by people selling firing pins. I have 3 that i'v been shooting regulary for about 5-6 yrs and have yet to have a fireing pin fail.

i've got a set of dies and brass listed on here in the reloading classifieds...

mine was AMAZING... i was shooting 8"x11" paper at 100m. low recoil. the availability of ammo has gone up.

i was reloading sierra 85gr rnsp's with alliant bullseye pistol powder
