1st Tikka
« on: March 05, 2009, 06:15:12 PM »
Just picked up a Lite/stainless in 243.Mounted the Bushnell 6500 with the DNZ mount that i had waitin for it and so far im very impressed the way the gun handles.I was able to get to the indoor range tonight only 25yds... but better than not shooting the new toy.I shot 3 groups of 3. 1st to get sigthed in the 2nd & 3rd were for groups win super-X 100gr.Both the 2nd & 3rd groups were all touching i feel with a real bench they could have been one ragged hole. Now i need to get to the outdoor and find what it likes and get it on some fur.

Congrats on that set up. I have the same exact configuration except my rifle is blued. This is my favorite rifle, it is also my lucky rifle. You will find that you have a very solid hunting setup, I have lost count of how many times my rifle and I have slipped down steep East TN hillsides, the scope never loses zero. My best and most reliable loading has been with Sierra 85gr GK bullets. They look really small before loading but they kill everything they hit, including a 260lb hog. I wish you every happiness with your new combo.

Thanks Old English, I saw your setup as i was downloading every bit of info from this forum into my little brain.I had my eye on the 6500 for about a year. The DNZ mount was new for me... it seems very solid i see people using them for mags so it should be fine for a 243 and its a pleasure to install. Overall im very happy with this setup... great gun for the money

what's the magnification range and objective diameter of your scope? also, are you using the DNZ low mount or DNZ medium mount? I too am gathering as much info as possible for my upcoming tikka purchase  ;D

Its 2.5x16x42 in the low DNZ mount.there is still plenty of room to move the scope back.

Don't be too suprised if the target looks the same after you shoot the 100 yd range!

Empty Quiver,
With the win super-X 100gr after about 70 down the tube it is grouping in .6's.Win Supreme 95gr BST will put 3 in the high.3's but try to make it a 5 shot group just can't stackem in there.Overall the gun shoots damn good.

I have the lite in 300 wm, it makes me think I can shoot. Seriously though, if something has three holes that close together the damage is done and it's time to start opening up the pattern anyway. I keep opening these posts figuring one day I'll see someone complain about a Tikka that is shooting poorly.

KzoneAL,

Did that synthetic stock come that way, or did you have it painted. Looks nice

Thanks, I painted the stock with Black auto primer, green with white flek rustoleum texture paint and 3 coats of clear. The texture paint is raised so it adds a non slip finish and is very durable. The pics at the top show the gun before.
