JC Higgins-Hi Standard pump

anybody own one of these shotguns from the days when you could order one from Sears catalogue?I am looking at one-12 guage, polychoke,vent rib barrel,bought new and stored for 30 years ,unfired except for test firing 3 shells to see if it works -$200.Any opinions?LIKES, DISLIKES?

I have one but don't use it any more it is just a wall decoration these days. It was the gun I learned to wing shoot with as a boy. It was bought new by my grand father and passed down to me. Mine doesn't have a poly choke tho I forget now the name of that old choke system it has. It uses tubes that screw into it Power Pac or some such I think it was called.

Mine had a problem that developed back when I was a teenager and that was a long long time ago. A pin in the bolt kept working out and locking up the action. It required taking the gun down to get it going again each time. I eventually flattened one end of it enough to make it a tight fit and pretty well solved that problem.

They are OK guns but I'm not sure I'd buy one as a shooter these days when a used Remington 870 costs hardly any more. I keep mine because it was the first shotgun I ever fired and learned to shoot with.
