heavy bullet loads for a Ruger Bisley in 45 Colt
« on: August 29, 2003, 02:43:40 AM »
I have a Bisley 45 on the way and am looking for data for heavy cast bullets. I have a Lyman mold for a 300 grain bullet and a NEI mold for a 370 grain round nose. The NEI bullet looks like it might be a good long range bullet but may not perform on game. I would like to load this one a little heavier than standard 45 Colt loads without pushing it too far. I would think that the 300 grain bullet at 1100 - 1200 fps would be about right. Anyone out there have experience with these loads? Shotgunner

Try RL#7 with gas check bullets at .002" over groove diameter. Slug barrel start low and work up.
