yeah what about them,i dont know why you guys all think i need a trapping teacher to help me out, dont yall ever think about the old days, when trappers had nothing to guide them, except for heart.i think im falling for trapping, this season will be great hopefully, trappers back in the old days didnt have anyone to help them out, they didnt have wild life resource guys teach them how to set a trap, how to use lures properly or anything.a mentor wouldnt hurt none but other than that ill learn from my mistakes, and teach myself

In this day and age a trapping coarse for you will serve you and the rest of the trapping community well. One poorly made set can blacken the eye of everyone. This isn't "the good old days" kid, and your attitude is indicating to me that you really don't understnad the importance of going about the learning curve in a proper fasion.  There are two ways in my book to do this. 1) Learn from a mentor (And many would be willing to do so) 2) a state trapping coarse.  You have already demonstrated your willingness to ignore your regulations by trapping coon out of season, indicating to me that you are destened for trouble on down the road. As a matter of fact, your posts are flat out scary and I fear the day when you snap a domestic, and make the front page. We're all responsible for learning and applying proper techneques, and ethics as we go about our buisness. Throwing caution to the wind, regarding trapping, will undoubtedly land you in a world of trouble. The advice you have gotten isn't something that is directed solely to you. Every new trapper, regardless of age, is responsible to carry the torch in a proper fashion and has been given the same advice. Why, might I ask, are you so defensive about this topic? People on here have been very patient with your blatent disrespect, and flagrant statements. Perhaps it's time for you to slow down, sit back, shut up, and listen to those trying to help you out.

well mallard, your right about somethings and wrong about others,i didnt mean to poach that coon, that box trap that i made is meant for groundhogs, but i set it for coons, after i caught it i told my friend mr. mike disalvo that i had caught my first coon,he said thats awesome, and gave me a link to my trapping regs here i tennessee, when i saw that coyotes, nutria and groundhogs were year round, and then i saw coons and grinners had a season,i couldnt believe my eyes  ,but now that i know that and now that i know that furs are worthless this time of year(thanks to you),i have built myself a fur shed and put those 1 1/2 vic ls away and that box trap and im just gonna sit back and fill that shed full of goodies, and fill my head with books and listening to you guys,i know i seem like a hard headed, disrespectful little punk trapper, ill admit to that, but somethings i take offense to i should just keep my mouth shut, because i know you guys are only trying to help me.i know what will happen if i keep trapping animals right now,not only will i not get any money for my furs, but i understand that you can tell a coon out of season from a coon that was trapped while in season, that will get me in a heap of trouble, specially with game warden up our butts right now about that doe and turkey shot here out of season about a month ago, they are watching real closely, and ive been noticing alot of people coming by here that i aint never seen b4,my guess is they are game warden in street clothes watchin everyone around here like a hawk.im gonna take your advice and sit here until the season, and shut up,sit back and listen to what you guys have to say.and as far as that  trapping class goes,im not gonna take it,a couple of weeks ago i met a guy that lives here in tennessee,he says he used to live here in mcminnville(warren county)and says that he was mentored by an old trapper here where i live, his name is johnny bosting or something like that,i have lost contact with that guy i met,and i dont even remember his name,im gonna try to get ahold of him again,so he can get me in touch with that johnny bosting,he told me he would love to help me,and might even take me on his lines with him.you guys really dont know how big of a help yall have been for me,i appreciate it,i know it seems like everything you guys say to me goes into one ear and out the other, but your wrong,i really do listen,it just dont seem like it i know.thanks again for yalls help, stay kool and take care of yourselves,trent....aka.....coondog

I totally agree Mallard , I see no reason to blow up when someone is trying to help out . Nothing hurts trappers more than the guy that dont want to learn from someone and ends up catching someones pet .Makes for a trapper hater real fast . By listening you may learn how to avoid catching non-target animals .

your question was about selling furs,  try this site, www.nafa.ca   they also have a pamplet about how to skin and stretch your fur.  if your going to handle many coon you will need a good fleshing knife and beam.  the necker is a nice all around knife....matt

also you can make a nice fleshing beam from a saw mill slab, hardwood is best.  just peel the bark and sand it alittle, then build a frame so the angle and the height fits ya....ya cant trap and sell fur without these 2 things
