Remington 870 Express 20 Gauge
« on: April 24, 2009, 01:16:38 PM »
I bought a Rem 870 at GunBroker recently. It had the front sight missing from the barrel. You all know just how important that sight really is....  I got it at a pretty good price, probably because of the sight; I thought I could put a sight on easily but that ain't working out. The new one isn't screwing in, I wonder if part of the old one is broken off in there. Anyone have any suggestions for other sights I can put on?

:D scrounger, I think you can buy a slide on sight that is high visibility front sight from an outfit like cabela's or Brownells. My quail shooting buddy had one on his Browning this winter. 8)

You'll probably shoot better without that silly front sight. In fact if manufacturers would stop putting them on shotguns most everyone likely would learn to shoot better. Ya ain't supposed to be looking at the barrel ya supposed to be looking at what ya want to hit.

I know that, Bill, I've done it before. A million years ago when I started trapshooting, there was an instructor at the club who had a shotgun with a scope mounted on it. The view through the scope was a 'girly' picture. He broke birds with it and had his students shoot it, too, proving you don't use sights with shotguns. I just need a sight for the time when I'm done using it and am trying to sell it. Most buyers won't understand about the missing sight.
