Good Saturday Morning............
« on: April 11, 2009, 01:49:15 AM »
Hello All.

Saturday is finally here and STILL won't be able to turkey hunt. All this work stuff is good for the bottom line, but is kinda hard on the hunting schedule. I know the turkeys are glad I have more tractor work lined up. Still, I will have an hour or so today to work on a few projects down on the 500 yard range. I have a few .280 Rem, 139gr. SBT rounds loaded up medium hot and can't wait to see where thet hit. The .280 is an overlooked 7 MM round. A lot of press is hot on the 7-08 and a good round it is. But, the "7/06" is a reloader's dream. With the shoulder being moved forward, it lends to added case capacity and it can be loaded to velocity aproaching the Magnums with out the recoil or need for magnum action. Anyway, Ya'al have a good day, and ifn ye hear a bunch of noise down Mackbean way,it is just m warmn up the ol Handi rifl. Good Luck and God Bless.

Dave

Good mornin Dave.  41* at 4:30 this morning up here in Billings, MT.  Good luck on the new loads for you 280.  I'm pretty fond of that cartridge myself, got 3 of em, A Handi like you, Browning A-bolt and an old Ruger MKI.  I agree with ya, no real reason for the 7 Mags with the 280 around, sold the 2 mags I had cause I quit using em.  And I like the 7mm-08, got 3 and a little 7-30 Waters I'm waiting to play with.  How long is your Turkey season?  Have a great day in Jawja.  DP

Slept in this morning until 7:00.  Been sippin coffee and staring at my grass and the tractor.  Somehow that thing needs to fire up and go to work, but for some reason I always have to be attached to it.

Sweet thang will sometimes mow for me, but she broke her foot and gets a pass.

Turkey?  Chores? Turkey? Chores?

Dang it! :'(

Back from breaking down hunting camp, and it's 72* in town, hot enouogh to break a heavy sweat breaking down deer camp.  Didn't see any turkeys there this trip :(, but the deer and antilope are all in good shape and lots of em.  Cut several Elk tracks with lots of sign (poop) criss-crossing my land.  Too bad it's permit only area, but will try to draw a tag.  Tested my newest addition that would make a pretty fair Hog gun I think.  A new Rossi 454 casul stainless 16" barrel and Williams Fire Sights.  Man those sights are nice, I can see em!  Busted lots a rocks down and ran some 45 colts with 315g Keith SWC on top of 21.0g of LilGun that feed perfectly.  Trigger is crisp and light, she's a keeper.  Happy Easter All!  DP
