Crimping FTX Bullets
« on: April 24, 2009, 06:05:06 AM »
I finally got around to reloading yesterday for my 45-70 and 450 using the 325 gr FTX bullets from Hornady. I have read the gripes about the shorter brass ( which we have known for 3+ years) and the problems with crimping the leverevolution brass. I used my Redding taper crimp die which straightens out the bulge of a crooked aligned bullet, puts on a snug taper crimp and when adjusted further puts on a roll crimp. This is a 45-70 die and works for both 45-70 and 450. All is well and no problems. Reloaders solve problems and this is a good fix.
