Marlin Marauder
« on: February 13, 2009, 06:46:10 AM »
Anyone here like the trapper length marlin carbines. There called Marauders and were only produced for a couple of years, 63&64 I believe. They have the straight grip and 16&1/4" barrel. The front sight is dovetailed into the barrel, not ramped.

I like them so well I have two. I have one with a 3x leupold scope and one with the factory open sights.

They were available in 30/30 and 35rem. Both of mine are in 30/30. They are sure handy little carbines and shoot good as well. Just a joy to carry and hunt with where the ranges are short. Don't think I'll ever get rid of mine. Someday the grandkids will inherit them but untill then I'll keep and enjoy them both.

I graduated high school in 1963 so these fit right in to my age catagory as well.

I like the handy aspect as well.  I have an 1894 in 41mag that i cut to 16 and a little bit.  I took off about a pound or so of exta Marlin wood from the fore arm and butt stock to slim it up some. Put on some gost ring style sights and man it is slick.   I would like to make some mates to it in 45 and 357. I can walk with it hanging down and never get close to the ground.  It kills with authority and little recoil.  Would be a great 1st deer gun for a young shooter.  Good shooting, Gary

I did almost the same treatment to a Model 95 45-70 as gulfdaddy. We ended up with Marauders in different calibers. They truely are a joy to carry. Mine was an extension of my arm about the whole time I was out in the bush in Alaska.

Davidson's has a special run that looks very much like that.  16 1/4" barrel and straight grip, but now in stainless and gray laminate with hi-viz ramp front.  Just got one.  Check it out here.
