This was nothing spooky, just an anomaly I would like to understand.
Last evening I was driving by back road to a town about 16 miles from my home, passing by a hayfield that was yet uncut, with hay being about knee high or a bit better.
As I drove by, I saw a deer proceeding across the field at a trot. Nothing special there..then I saw something smaller, about 15 ft in front of the deer moving at the same pace, both angling across the field toward what would have been a meetung point with me. At first I thought it may be a doe, chasing after her errant fawn, but as they drew nearer to me I could clearly see the front animal was a healthy looking red fox. Neither animal seemed to be angry or frightened..just trotting along at a brisk pace.
What was I witnessing ? Was it a doe, driving a curious fox away..or was it just a curious doe ?
Any suggestions ?
