Who or what is Bob Marley?  ??? So far as I know that's the first time I ever ran across the name.

I must say that whoever wrote that either ain't frum around here or has no clue what white folks really do. It had to be about the dumbest thing since Foxworthy.

I think that this is aimed at the suburban/urban white man more than...well...real men, lol.   FYI Bill, Marley was a reggae artist who DID have some decent music, but is mostly over hyped because he was a bit of an activist.

I have absolutely no clue what reggae is. If he was a reggae artist did he paint or sculpt or what? There was nothing in that article I was able to relate to period. nuttin.

Graybeard, did you ever hear the sone, Don't Worry, Be Happy. That was Bob Marley. A big marajuna user. I remember seeing him on a talk show 20 years ago or so. I believe he died from heart complications. Probably too many drugs.
As far as the article goes, didn't have time to read it all. Didn't see anything in it about 2 of my favorite foods, fried chicken or watermelon, so I don't know how it relates to this white boy. gypsyman

I would not worry about Bob Marley. He croaked back in 1981. I hate reggae and all the island music. You really don't hear much about reggae anymore thankfully. He was a member of the Rastafari movement.

You might not smoke copious amounts of dope...
You might not listen to reggae...
You might know how to pronounce the word "man"...
You might have a job and be a contributing member of society...
You might be educated...
You might be from part of the world that doesn't give a crap about reggae, drugs, rasta's or anything like that.
Can't say that I don't know who Marley is; but I can say that I have never purposefully listened to any of his music.

I was just about to try and find out if i was really white.
The only reason i knew what a Marley was because i went to
Jamaca on vacation 3-4 years ago on vacation, if you looked at the
posters it was hard to decide who was more popular
Marley or J Cash.

That was funny, I don't mind laughing at my own race, or others. Humans are strange, some more than others.
Marley died of a brain tumor. Smoked a lot of weed. Wrote some good songs, if you are into that type of music. Was all about peace and peace between races. He had a son that played football for the Univ. of Miami.
I prefer Bocephus and ZZ Top type music, but some of Marley's misic is not unpleasent to me, hell, I'll even listen to Blue Grass and Jimmy Buffet at times. I do spend a lot of time in the Bahamas and the rest of the carribbean while driving boats and fishing in tournaments, so island music comes with the territory.

Gypsyman, Bobby McFerrin wrote "Don't worry, be happy" but it's similar to what Marley did.

In college i did a paper on humor and how in the end we will all use humor to relive the pressure between the races and groups .

Yup I'd say most all that fits me except I am retired these days and don't really have a job but I do sorta consider myself a contributor to society. I also am pretty sure I know the "CORRECT" pronunciation of MAN and it ain't got an O it.

I hear you Oldshooter. I had my more liberal days too. About the only thing I still hold in esteem from those days is the excellent music. You can still go see John C. Fogerty (the guy on the far right in the video), and his new music is just as good if not better than when he was in CCR.
