Honda 350 4x4 ES

I just purchased this machine from my uncle for only a few bucks.  It is a 2004.  I have read the manual and I still can't figure out how it goes into 4-wheel drive!

Does anyone have one of these or know about them?  Is it automatic 4-wheel drive?

dont know about that honda but ive got a yamaha timberwolf and its allways in 4x4.

Lloyd,

I was sort of wondering the same thing as when I turn the steering as sharp as it will go at an extremely slow mph, the tires on the front want to tear up turf.  It is a bit jerky also.  I know the ATV is in very good shape, and not beaten to near death, as my Uncle is obsessive complusive (!) somewhat.  I was just curious.

It sounds from your description of it's slow speed behavior that it is always in 4WD.

I have a 2001 Rancher 350 ES 4X4, and mine is full-time. Don't know when they changed to the 'select' mode though.

Mine is the same model as yours but it is a 2004.  My uncle indicates it goes into 4WD when needed, but I am not sure of that.  I also think it is in all the time as it will tear up turf on slow sharp turns if the ground is wet.  Oh well, so far it has been good for what I purchased it for...

if you want to know for sure if it is full-time 4 wheel drive, you could just jack it up and hit the gas, if the fronf wheels spin, its full time.

Good idea!  I have a motorcycle jack/stand and that will work perfectly!  Sometimes ya just can't see the forest for the trees...BCB

I have a 2003 450 es the two wheel four wheel shifter is on the right handle bar yellow button that says 2  4 wd when the 4 wheel is engaged the a green light is on.

Not sure about the 2004 but my 2001 Rancher was full time 4x4.

Nope 2WD/4WD selector button on mine. Guess the one I got must be all the time 4WD.  If I had know that, I am not sure I would have purchased it!  It sure tears the turf up when I make a sharp turn.  Thakks to all...BCB
