Question about acquiring 45Acp Blackhawk - 3 screw
« on: September 07, 2003, 07:24:19 AM »
G'day folks

I have just received a call from someone wanting to trade a 3 screw Blackhawk with 45 ACP cyl only,  for a Browning BL22 I have for sale.

Would like to know how hard it might be to get a 45 Colt cylinder, and if I can't find a 45 cold cyl, how much would the gun, with the 45 acp cyl be worth? I am guessing a cylinder for the New Model Blackhawk would not be the same..!

Any other opinions, feedback, suggestions on using this gun with just the ACP cylinder would be appreciated.

Cheers
Kerry

you could call the custom ruger smiths; clements, reeder, bowen. they usually have spare cylinders... or send it to ruger since they will replace LOST cylinders at least. however, i'd take all the original lockwork out since theres no guarantee they will return them anymore. i've heard from more than one person they have stopped doing that. and i wouldnt believe what someone from ruger says on the phone in that regard.

targetshootr,

Thanks for the reply, I actually ended up trading for a different gun. But I am not done with Ruger Single Actions, so the info is good to have.

Cheers
