I recently saw that Columbia River has a new knife out called the "Ringer".  It can come in a couple different configurations, but I'm interested in the one with the guthook.  It looks to me like a knife that a guy could put in his packs and forget he even had it since it's so small and light.  Another thing I like is that it seems like it'd be easy to clean after field dressing.

Not my cup of tea, but some folks like gadgets like that.  Gut hooks are hard to sharpen for some reason, even using a ceramic rod. They work better at their original purpose; to hook a coffee pot bail off a campfire.  The ring type handles I've tried are kinda awkward for me also.  I carry a SAK in my pack, and while it might be a bit heavier, it will do anything that knife will, plus.  Still, it's different and I'm sure it will cut.

Reminds me of the Wyoming knife, which i had to have some thing like 30+
years ago, never used it much, wasn't as handy as i thought, some one
gave me a new replacable blade model for Christmas one year.
That is a nice looking peice, i never got used to gut hooks.
