I'm looking at a Boito Reuna in 12Ga, anyone own one that would share their thoughts on it?

They are pretty bad.

Comments on the double barrel also apply to the single.

Interesting, the generation they complaining about was my first shotgun CIL 402(the Reuna is the newer version)single in 28 ga. I bought it used and put 5k shells through it without an issue. Sold it and bought a Marlin 55GDL(another one on that list) after 12years of clay targets & upland hunting in which it misfired a grand total twice, I'm looking for a cheap, light, 12 guage single. No offense intended, I'm not putting any faith in that article. The double has little in common with the single other than guage. What issues have you had with yours?

NEF or H&R can't be beat.

I already own a H&R Sportster, it works great, but no 2 pieces on the gun look like they were built to be put together. The Boito I was looking at yesterday had fit and finish on par with my old Remington Wingmaster(a gun that looked great, and was a good gun, providing you didn't actually expect it to fire) and any Beretta I've ever shot. The NEF's they had in stock were as bad or worse than my Sportster, not one had a stock that actually mated up smooth with both the receiver & butt plate, which is suprising for a rifle/shotgun line where all the stocks are made to interchange. If the external fit & finish is that bad, what's the inside like.

At least it's hardened steel.  My friend has a Boito and the parts wear like butter.  We made new firing pins after about 250 shots.  They were worn/peened down until they wouldn't even fire a shell.  There was a lot of metal shavings every time you opened the gun.  If you didn't want your question answered, why did you ask?

I'm looking for first hand knowledge on issues on a particular model of shotgun, from someone who has one. I don't care to know, what issues the hammerless side by side or O/U shotguns suffer from. I don't want to know what someone had heard. I'm looking to find out how rugged the Reuna is, not the Condor, or the Uplander. Or the side by side they made 25 years ago, the Honda Civic was junk cars 25 years ago, naturally by using you're logic, the 2009 Accord must be junk, right. See my point. Everyone swears by the Remington 870, mine was a piece of junk. Again my CIL 402 was made by them, I never had an issue with it and I owned in ten years after buying used. I'm not looking for Cadillac, I'm looking for something I won't cry if it gets marked up.

They are a fantastic gun.  If I had been part of US forces sent into Fallujah I would have taken the Boito.  Functions perfectly every single time.  More accurate than a benchrest rifle, and more lethal than the A-10s minigun.  And I've shot 2,450,291 CASES of shells through mine and it still looks as good as the day I bought it.  One year I killed enough pheasants with it to feed all of Souix Falls, SD.

(Don't tell him I wouldn't know a Boito if it hit me in the head, I just decided to give him the only answer he would accept so this topic could move on.)

Honda Civics were never junk cars.  Boitos are and always will be very poor quality firearms.  If they'll take $30.00 or less for it, it might be worth buying.

Well guys thank you for wasting all of our time, I'll get my own first hand knowledge, I bought the shotgun, paid a decent price for it, comes with a 3 year warranty, my usual smith is warranty dealer for them(not the other side of the continent like H&R). Turns out you 2 have never had one apart before, glad I did not take your advice on it. Apparently the earlier models suffered from ejector issues(this one has a mechanical extractor), firing pin is replaceable from the breach area, take 2 minutes to change, cost $6.00. Apparantly the issue with SXS an O/U was due to a non-hardened rod that recocked the gun when opened, was fixed quite a number of years ago.

When a company puts a cheap POS product on the market, they are a bad company to do business with.  But as a couple of people pointed out, you'd already made up your mind on the answer before you asked the question.

Good luck.

Hey, come on guys lets lighten up on each other!  The anti's just love it when we fight amongst ourselves.

I mean, we all have different opinions on what guns we like, but we all like guns and shooting or we wouldn't be here.

Congrats on your purchase and I hope it works out for you!

I wasn't trying to insult or offend anyone, I was looking for first hand information on the model I was looking at, that's all. My mind wasn't made up, I was looking at a Rossi Single, an NEF(as I currently own an H&R Sporster) and at the Boito I ended up buying. Boito has been around a long time, is a division of Remington, manufactures Stoeger's line of shotguns among others. I currently have a 525 Remington made by them in the sixties, which has been a nice little rimfire, my old CIL 402 in 28Ga(also made by them) was a rugged little single that had served me well over the years I owned it. Problem was I couldn't find any info on the Reuna which is why I started this topic. And try as Swampman may have, he had no info on the model I was looking at. If anyone owns on of these shotguns, I'm still looking info on it. Boito stopped making this model last fall and their website and parent website CBC doesn't have any info on them.

I've had one apart.  The metal ranks right up there with particle board.  I hope your gunsmith can make replacement parts like I did.

Someone blew a lot of smoke up your *** about Boito being connected with Stoger or Remington.

Really? http://www.importgenius.com/shipments/e-r-amantino-cia-ltda.html
http://www.armasboito.com.br/arquivos/links/20.pdf

From Remington's history page; 1936 Early in 1936 Remington and Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd. joined in the organization of Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos SA for the purpose of acquiring the assets and business of Fabrica Nacional de Cartuchos e Municoes.  The latter company had been manufacturing sporting ammunition since 1927 in its plant located in Sao Paulo, Brazil.  Remington granted the new company the right to use its trademark and technical information in Brazil.  Remington maintained a 49.99% interest in Companhia Brasileira

They still own part of this company under it's new parent company IMBEL.

IMBEL also they have produces a large number of Colt 1911 pistols and M1A for the Springfield Armory sold to the domestic market(US) & FBI. Isn't the internet great?

This all seems like a really huge stretch to say that a 50 cent gun is made by Remington.  Reguardless they are junk.

Finally had a chance to shoot some clay with it. Perfomed flawlessly for me. Pattern test with my pet grouse was 17" at 25yrds and even. It should do what I expect from it.
