Good Morning, Thursday, May, 7th, 2009

Howdy all,
Heading out to accompany my girlfriend to a doctors visit.  She had discovered the meaning of value in med care.  She used to go to the discount medical providers, but after seeing a real doctor and being able to talk with him for over an hour, she realized how much you get what you pay for as opposed to just becoming a recepticle for the pharmaceutical companies.
Dpe.ahoy, it is funny how you mention the dead deer carcasses.  I am seeing them all over the place.   Heaps of animal fur scattered all over the hills.  I may be inclined to excessive speculation, but I find it interesting how I see deer herds hanging in close company with groups of elk.  Kinda reminds me of primary consumer groups in Afrika.  All the differnent species joining up to increse their strength in numbers.  Plus they seem to hang very close to ranch houses.  I am compelled to wonder if this changing habits are related to looking for increased security from predadtion.
Gotta go

Good morning Montanan, MT_Sourdough, dpe, Southpaw, Forster, Atlaw, pab1, newstart2k, Skunk, kitchawan kid, lurker, CJ, Bilmac, thxmrgarand, Syncerus, Mcwoodduck, Brennemanj83, Old Shooter,TY22, Canon6, burntmuch, Grimjim, CJ, Bilmac, rparsons934 wis_sharpshooter and BBF.

Clear blue skies and a windy 39 degrees this morning.

Yesterday the wind just cut through every thing.  No heat in the shop so no work in the shop. Wind or not, It's bundle up and get building time today.

Haven't been out on the field much this spring, but even when I use get out around here I never have seen that much winter kill  up here.  Yes a few here and there a dead deer.  But not a lot.  I can tell you though driving the roads there are still quite a few deer around up here.

Mt_Sourdough.  The Cannonshoot may be more visually attractive, but anyone who shoots in Victorian Rifleman Provincial Match will be awarded the Victorian Rifleman Provincial Shooting Medal--bullet striking the target optional.  You bring those kids up to the Victorian Rifleman Shoot and I will put a rifle in their hands and they will shoot and get a Medal.  For the kids I'll get the .310 Cadet loaded up.  For you, the 577/450. If your Lady wishes to shoot, I will find something for her also.  This shoot is in June, the week following father's day.  The event starts off with everyone standing on line and the Colour SGT calling out the commands--- At 100 yards, Volley Fire--LOAD--FIRE!--LOAD!--FIRE!--LOAD--FIRE!--Cease fire.  10 or 12 shooters or more standing shoulder to shoulder firing black powder cartridges, clouds of black powder smoke rolling across the plains...exciting stuff!

Then 6 weeks later come back and do it again with cannons.  I'll see that those boys get to fire a cannon.

The guys from Sea Coast Artillery, a GBO sponser are bringing a 2/5 scale model of a Paixhan's Monster Mortar. The orignal Paixhans Morter fires a 1000 lb projectile.  Sea Coast 2/5 scale mortar will fire a 130 lb projectile.

Southpaw is building a bowling ball mortar for the shoot.

Looks like yer gonna have to much fun DD.  Still alot of deer around here and they look in great shape.  Gonna take our guests to Yellowstone Park Sunday if the weather is good.  I hear some of the "greenies" got a taste of what a pack of wolves will do when they took down an elk in some backyard in Mammoth.  DP
