Speer 225 gr. .451 dia.
« on: May 09, 2009, 04:09:50 PM »
Any of you 45 ruger fans out there ever use Speer's 225 gr. HP on deer.  Our deer here in Cajun land (South Louisiana)  run about 100 Lbs. for a big one. Most of our hunting is marsh with shots less than 100 yards, Most less than 50 in monglea or thich grass.  I will be pushing this bullet about  1200+ ot of a ruger blackhawk with a 2 power Burris.

Should work fine on light deer ... Though you might want to rethink using it on bigger pigs should you have them down there in your neck of the hunting woods ... Used the 250gr Speer Gold Dot HP (out of a Uberti lever action 45lc) on a 200+ pound hog and long story short the blood trail ran out after several hours of tracking , no exit wound was detected by the blood on the game trail , this was a behind the shoulder broad side...

 Hope this helps ya ,
