Yes they did test it in the dirt.  They took it to a firing range and fired it electronically. It rolled backward with authority.  No more unweildy than any other large wheeled field piece.

 I'd imagine something like that would have a tendency to turn a little if you were to fire the bbls starting from one side.

 In what sequence did they fire the bbls?

That was clear last week... I do remember they fired all barrels at once and several barrels at a time...
