PF-9 Pricing
« on: January 23, 2009, 02:16:41 AM »
Found one at a gun shop and they are asking $299.00. Is this a fair price?

That's a little high.

Notice they have none in stock.  I bet when they get some in the price will go up.

They had 3 in stock this morning when I posted it, they go fast at that price when they're posted on a site like this!! That's close to the same price they were when I bought mine over a year ago, but they were out of stock then, got mine from TGS who is out usually too.

I bought a XD40 sub compact this week at a local shop and they had a bunch of KelTecs in 32 and 9mm.. they priced me a 32 for $260... they had several 9's the sticker on them was 319...but he usally cuts alot better deals.. he had $529 on my XD and I gave $449... don't have many options on handguns in my neck of the woods ( without having to drive 2 hours)

Just this afternoon, I found a shop with a brand new, in the box, Kel-Tek in 9m/m luger (not .380) and the price is $219 plus tax.  Sounds like a reasonable price to me. HUH??

Oops, the Kel-Tek that I saw for $218 plus tax turned out to be the P11.  Now someone please help me out here - what is the advantage of getting the PF9 over the P11 or vice versa???  Thanks again.

The PF9 uses a single stack magazine which holds 7 rounds therefore is slightly thinner and slightly lighter than the P-11 which uses a double stack magazine holding 10 rounds.  The P-11 has been around for at least a decade and is a proven design.  The PF9 is a relatively new design so it's track record is pretty short to really know how it will hold up.  That said Kel-Tec's customer service is second to none and they will take care of any problems that may arise on their ticket and in short order.

Neither gun has any external safety devices to fuss with but rely instead on somewhat heavy and long DA only trigger pulls much like a DA revolver.  My P-11's trigger is very loooong but smooth with only a slight amount of stacking just before breaking crisply at about 8lbs.  If you are used to shooting revolvers you shouldn't have any trouble adapting to the P-11 trigger.   I have not shot a PF9 so I have no first hand knowledge of it's trigger, but do know that it's trigger differs mechanically than the P-11's and have heard that it is a little lighter and shorter than that of the P-11.

I just got back from the gun show here in Fort Worth.  I've never seen it so busy!!
I bought the wife a P11 for $285.  I was looking for a PF9, but everyone had sold out very early in the day.  I didn't hear what they were going for.

Brett was not kidding about a LLLOOOOOONNNNNGGGGGG trigger pull on this gun, but it is crisp.  I can't wait to get to the range tomorrow ans see how it shoots.

I just got notification that RR had the P11 in stock, they're out already, but that's no surprise at $257!!
