Back to the Bighorn

I have a Knight Bighorn, that i took the scope off of to put on a new Omega I bought.  I was not real thrilled with the Omega.  I sold it, and put the scope back on the Bighorn this week.  I'm back with Goex 2F (90 grains), 300 grain XTP bullets, and #11 percussion caps.  It shoots right on at 50 yards, and 3 inches low at 100 yards. It has a 26 inch Green Mountain barrel. Where I hunt that is plenty.  I've never had a problem with percussion caps and rain.  If you are thinking about switching from a rifle that shoots well for you to a newer style rifle that you have heard about, you might want to stop and think about it.  It might not be that much of an improvement, if any, for what you have to pay.  Also, if you take care of your rifle, a blued barrel is all you need. This post is not a flame.  Just trying to save you some money in the current economy.  See ya.

im giving the cva accura a try here pretty soon. Im sure it will be a keeper.  One of my most favorite muzzleloaders of all time was an Winchester x-150 i had. I could easily go back to that and be happy as heck.

Nothing wrong with the Knight Bighorn.  I switched from an MK-85 to the Elite when scopes became legal for deer hunting here. Have to say the #11 caps in the MK-85 never let me down... and I would have no problem if I had to use it again where scopes are not allowed.

I also have an Omega... just curious, why were you dissatisfied with it ?

I had the Z5 model.  I thought the ignition would seal tight, but when I shot it, it burned the paint off the scope.  Also, you can't take out the Z5 trigger to clean the rifle.   I might buy another 209 rifle if I can find one I like.
