freezing tomato's
« on: September 24, 2009, 04:07:47 AM »
Just got thru canning up 40 qts. of juice and salsa. Just found out how easy it is to get the skin off of tomato's if you freeze them. I've still got a bunch to go. Still have 20+ left over from last year. So I had a friend of mine tell me he freeze's 'mators. So I thought I'ld try out my sealer. First time to use it, so any suggestions will be welcomed. Thanks  gypsyman

Cut the core out before freezing them. Then all you have to do is rinse them in warm water to get the skin off, then straight into the pot to cook . I have a vaccuum sealer, but I usually just put tomatoes in a large ziplock. This way I can take out 3 or 4 as needed and just re-zip the bag and toss it back in the freezer.
