cs strikes again
« on: May 07, 2009, 06:11:56 PM »
I sent my 96 model SB2 frame off 2 weeks ago to have a 45/70 barrel installed on it. I called today to check on its progress. The cs guy told me no rifle barrels could be put on it. I argued the fact that no high pressure barrels could be put on it but 45/70,30/30 and such could. He started studdering almost in a panic and told me he would have to reserch it and call me back. Well he never called back. I guess I will have to call again tomorrow.

They call that CS?  What a sorry state of affairs.  If you ever get it back with that .45-70, you're gonna love it.

well I called back today and they said that between 96 and 99 they outsourced some of the manufacturing of frames. some of them are made of diffrent metals. They said they are strong enough for the barrel on them but the metal on the new barrels is diffrent it wont work with the outsourced frames. I dont see how the metal on the barrel matters. They will not put any rifle barrel on my frame not even 357 or 44 mag. They had already shipped it back to me when I talked to them.

This is new information to me. Wonder if Quick has heard anything about this before?

I'm checking on it, it may just be more misunderstandings by CSR, I did talk to the manager at Gardner a year ago about pre-99 frames, but it may be a policy change by Ilion.

Really shouldn't this constitute a recall of some type rather than allowing people to use firearms that remington believes to be unsafe?
