Marlin .410 Lever Action Shogun

Anyone had much experience with one of these. It doesn't seem that they are cataloged anymore but every time I see one advertised or at a gun show they are in $700+ range. Are they that good or just more of a collector's item?

I have one that I bought 4 years ago? new. Cabelas sells them now.

They are heavy for what they shoot and built like a tank.

The fiber optic front sight is large so it is easy to acquire.

I really like shooting it. But the 2.5" shell limitation is a pain and can be expensive.

If you get a hold of a new one, buy it. I think they were selling locally for $499.

Ridge Runner can you send me a link to the cabelas ad. If marlin is making them again I would like to buy a second one for my dad.

I saw one at our local gun show a couple months ago, fellow was not a dealer just brought it in to sell and was asking 800.00 which I thought was a bit high for a shot gun but some fellow bought it and at a later gun show saw a couple for 850.00 which I still feel is way over priced for a leaver action shotgun.

  What a waste of money.  A fine firearm, built around a useless shell.  The 2.5 inch .410 shotshell is about as close to useless as anything that is made.  The 3.0 inchers are a bare minimum if you want to shoot anything over 15 yards and actually kill it.  Take a big pass on this.

It was in a flyer for our local store in Scarborough Maine. That was 3-4 months ago. Give them a call 207-883-7400.

Ive killed several deer with 2 1/2 slugs. For years it was a favorite first deer gun around here. Put it where it belongs and they die just like they do using a cannon. My last shot with my marlin was a ranged 74 yard headshot. Its about placement not horse power. Always has been.
