Well, since I am waiting for a bunch of loading stuff to come in I decided to spend this afternoon doing a pre-cleaning on my new (never fired) Pedersoli Sharps.
First bore buttered patch to run through the barrel came out brown! The bore looks smooth, but the brown concerns me as I have never had a bore produce a brown patch. Black, yes, brown no.
Do you guys think it might be some light rust? I am going to scrub it really well, but am concerned over this as I planned on this rifle being a precision bench target rifle.
Thoughs? Could they have used a brown factory lube in the barrel?
I cleaned it for the better part of an hour and got it to come out pretty clean, but not perfect like I like. Still getting some brown.
Is there a product I should use on it? For cleaning I used a combination of T/C bore cleaner, Breakfree & T/C Bore Butter)
