i got a used set of rcbs dies in 308 win. tryed to sit some 165 grain nosler combined tecnology silvertips, resized the brass, new remington,
i seat the bullet and it pulls back out and sticks in the die, is this a bad die or bad bullet ?

Sounds like your not seating the bullet deep enough or you have lube inside the case neck? Cause normally the case neck tension will grab the bullet and keep it in the case. Screw the seat plug down two full turns and see if that works.

Sounds like the seating stem may be siezing to the bullet nose or maybe some foriegn material in the die. I would disassemble the die and give it a thorough cleaning and inspection, especially the end of the stem where it engages the bullet nose.
Also make sure the die is marked .308 seat die and not something else.
