45-70

I got some cast bullits today 405gr 45-70 they only have one small grease grove filled with blue grease.
I want to use black powder with them they are probely made for modern powder.If I alox them and used     a veg cookey could I use them or would they b nuthing but trouble?

alox is not the best black powder lube.  However, I would try some of the bullets as is.  I would make a blow tube and put 3 heavy breathes down the bore between shots.  If you are not happy with the results then melt out the blue lube and pan lube with something else.

Grease cookie of 50/50 olive oil and beeswax.
If he's carrying a singleshot, don't expect a warning shot!
