I don't know what the Ruger Alaskan front sight dimensions are but you might check out what is offered at Brownell's or Midway. I would think something is out there.  I didn't like my black sight on my S&W Mt Gun so I used some fluorescent orange powder paint designed for fishing lures. Got the sight hot with a butane lighter then dropped the powder on it. I think it might be more durable and its definitely much brighter than fingernail polish.

Fingernail polish has always worked for me. I like bright orange.  ;D Helps these old eyes, and the price is right.
