DA Conversion Inquiry for the S&W specialists
« on: May 23, 2011, 03:54:18 AM »
Are conversions on the N-frame Smith 27/28's done to size them up to anything larger (44/40, 44 Sp, 44 mag, 45LC)?  I realize that a person would be a bit ahead of the game by just getting the appropriate model (22, 23, 25...) but I am asking anyway.  And while I am asking, how about a custom 38/44 Outdoorsman by replacing the mag cylinder of the 27/28 with a 38 SP one and setting the barrel back (I skipped through all of the other steps since you smiths will know them anyway).

If this is done by anyone, I's appreciate their contact info.
Thanks.

Has been done.

This one had recessed cylinder and the correct barrel on an M-28. Very accurate, good looking. Spent a lot of money to ruin the resale value of the gun.

This was a badly worn M28-2, 6inch barrel.  Now a 45acp/LC [2 cylinders] 4inch.

Here is mine, a M28-2 reworked to 45 ACP.  I idi the work long beofre the Mountain Revolver series came out and liked my results.

I would do it again under the same circumstances.
