When I got into hunting and shooting I got guns that fit each of the niches I needed filled. For example, bullseye shooting, handgun hunting, and upland game hunting. I also got reloading equipment. It's been about 10 years now and I am sure happy with my equipment and the experiences I've had with it. I don't often buy anything new, or desire anything new. I realize my equipment is good and see no reason to change it. Occasionally something new comes up like getting a rifled barrel for my son's shotgun, but for the most part I don't acquire much anymore.
The payoff to this approach is that I really see my guns as "old friends" because I've had them long enough to be familiar with them, and they all have a history of very satisfactory performance.
Others take a different viewpoint and like to try new things regularly.
It's just two different ways of enjoying a hobby.
