I guess it's all in who you know
« on: June 09, 2009, 05:17:52 PM »
I heard this today from someone else so I don't know all the details.

It seems that somewhere in MINN. or WIS. a GM dealer that has been in business for 91 years received a letter stating that their dealership was going to be dropped as of this FRIDAY.
This dealership has never shown a lose in the 91 years it has been in business.
The letter also said that if they didn't agree and sing the paper none of the new units they had on their lot would have a warranty and that they would not take them back.
When the dealership called to inquire why they were being shut down they wouldn't give them any reason, just that they were going to be shut down.

Now somewhere else in the same state another dealership received the same letter but because they knew someone with some pull they were able to get a meeting with the "government car-zar" and now that person is allowed to keep their dealership.

I guess GOVERNMENT MOTORS can just pick and choose who they want to close as they wish.
This just isn't right.

Just goes to show it's all in who you know!!!

If anyone knows anymore details please feel free to ad them and correct any I have wrong.
I tried to find a story on this today on the computer but had no luck.

Kinda like having friends in the "party" in the old USSR.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

It is an age old thing. It is not what you know but who you know. No surprise here, Beck or Hannity had this dealer ship thing on their program.

what most people dont know is why they thinning out the dealrships. there are to many dealers too close together causeing to stiff of competition pricewise.gm figgers if they can force yu into goin to one certain local dealer because its the only one in 100 miles then they also can force you into paying a higher price for the car.they are counting a little too much on brand loyalty.i dont really feel to sorry for the dealers myself, around here they always waaay overcharged for parts and service and were continually screwing you, or lieing to you over some little thing.

Not surprising.  This has been going on since the dawn of government, regardless of which government or who's in power.

Do you work at the closing dealership?  Several Dodge dealerships got cut in this area (one guy who owned 5 had 3 of his cut), but they're basically staying in business - just removing the Dodge signage and becoming a used car lot (I supposed there's a possibility that they'll start dealing a different brand sometime or another).  Perhaps the dealership you mentioned won't need to close completely.

actually from what ive heard the used car biz is pretty good right now and is what a lot of these cut dealers are planning to do.if they drive up the prices of the new cars the used ones will be a pretty good racket to be in. i think the overhead is lower and the profit per unit may be more also.
