Cylinder throats for cast bullets?
« on: June 15, 2009, 11:29:03 AM »
I have a '93 Ruger Super Blackhawk, SS, .44 mag. Barrel slugs .429" maybe .4295". Cylinder throats measure about .430" to .431". I'm thinking of opening the throats to .432" and shooting .431" or .432" cast bullets. Any thoughts on .432" as cylinder throat size? Too Big?

Ideally you should shoot cast bullets about 0.0005" to 0.001" over bore diameter and throats should be about 0.0005" over bullet diameter. Seems to me opening them up when they are already over size is a losing proposition.
