A place I want to hunt only allows Bow, ML or Shotgun (slug). I have been looking at the factory 12g and 50cal barrels. I am leaning towards the ML.   I saw a TC ML rifle setup (everything but the powder and primer) at Walmart for around 275.00. Seems pretty reasonable considering I can't seem to locate a encore barrel for less that 240.00. Any comments from owners of either.

I'm not sure as to the question, or the Thompson you were looking at. A Black Diamond?

$275.00 is a great price, but it wasn't one of those CVA imatations was it ? I would go and look closer at it. If it is a Encore get it, but if it's the other put it back.

I think the Muzzleloader will do fine, it would be my first choice over the slug barrel.
