How should I Store my 760's?
« on: June 19, 2009, 04:14:41 PM »
Should I leave them cocked, dry fire them to take tension off the firing pin spring, or leave the action open for storage?  I have 2 760's, a 1954 model in 35 Remington and a 1976 model in 30-06.

With the 760 unloaded and the magazine removed I extend a finger into the magazine well up to the face of the hammer.  While holding pressure on the hammer, I release the trigger and ease the hammer down.  No pain involved.

Home made snap caps work well for your concern as well. Try a search on GBO forums for the "snappers".

Sisk, that was what I was looking for.  Great information, I did that on both the 760's and it worked great.  I would have never thought to do that!
