I just ordered a camo laminate forend from H&R yesterday. It is the one for the 20 ga shotgun and is longer than the standard rifle forend but it is in stock according to Customer Service. The delivered price was $57.00 including the plastic spacer. They said that is the only one that is available now. I have one on a 280 with a 26" barrel and thumb hole stock and it looks okay. But the one I ordered is for a 22" barrel and I will probably have to shorten it to make it look "right".
I have called every stock manufacturer that I could find that produces laminated stocks and have had no luck. I even called Rutland Plywood who makes all of the laminated blanks used by all of the manufacturers, to see if I could buy the blanks and make my own. They will sell the blanks but the size that would be needed for a thumb hole stock for the handi is about $100 each and their minimum is 4 pieces. That is pretty expensive for a piece of wood that I might screw up in the manufacturing process. Plus I don't 4 stocks. But it would be nice to have one of the pepper laminate stock that is apparently no longer available.
If anyone has any suggestions as to how to overcome this obstacle it would be appreciated.
