New use for that old mouse pad
« on: June 17, 2009, 10:22:36 AM »
On my new .444, the synthetic monte carlo stock was just a hair too low.  Taking advice given here, I added a neoprene stock mounted bullet holder.  It helped a little, but it wasn't quite enough.  So I took an old neoprene mouse pad that I had laying around, and cut it to shape and slide it under the shell holder.  Viola!

PVC pipe insulation that slips over, works great to really raise it up under the shell holder. But if you only need just a hair sounds like you found a good way.

I had a hard time finding 1/4" neoprene mouse pads locally.  Most stores just have 1/8" ones.  Staples had some black ones for $5 or so.  $5 is a heck of a lot better than the store bought ones for $20.

The Mossberg shotgun that I have was slapping me in the face on recoil.  I used the mousepad idea and it made a lot better checkweld.
