replacement for a win 70 stock
« on: September 18, 2003, 06:45:57 AM »
I am looking to replace the flimsy syn stock on my mod 70 classic stainless.  This rifle shoots very well, but the POI tends to move an inch or two. I have looked at mcmillan, hs precision, bell and carlson(expensive and generally ugly). I am also considering a laminate stock such as those available from boyds and richards micro-fit.

Any suggestions or opinions. :?

First off, WELCOME ABOARD! :D

Let me tell you that I am in the same boat.  I have bought and used both McMillan and HS Precision.  Both are great stocks, but the McMillan is, from what I have found, the best.

Take a look at the new stocks from chirstensen arms.  They are stronger than the McMillans and cost about the same, but are also much lighter.  Problem is, that this stock is currently only available for Remington actions, with Winchesters soon to follow.
